Education City Golf Club

Education City Golf Club is a premier golfing destination situated in the heart of Doha, Qatar. Officially opened in 2019 under the patronage of Qatar Foundation, the club was designed by the renowned Spanish golfer José María Olazábal, a two-time Masters Tournament winner. This marks Olazábal’s first golf course design in the Middle East, and he has expressed that the project is “unlike any other” due to its unique setting within Education City and its integration with the surrounding academic and cultural institutions.

Spanning 120 hectares (approximately 297 acres), the club features 33 holes across three distinct courses: an 18-hole championship course, a 6-hole floodlit championship course, and a 9-hole floodlit par-3 course. These courses are designed to cater to golfers of all skill levels, from beginners to professionals. The layout incorporates natural features, such as a wadi (dry riverbed), which adds character and elevation changes to the otherwise flat terrain.

In line with its commitment to sustainability, Education City Golf Club employs drought-tolerant Platinum TE Paspalum grass throughout its courses. This choice minimizes water usage and ensures the courses remain lush and playable year-round. The club also utilizes TSE water for irrigation and has implemented a state-of-the-art irrigation system equipped with soil moisture sensors and weather stations to optimize water usage.

The club is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including the Centre of Excellence, which houses five high-tech golf tuition studios, an indoor putting lab, a gym, and a private tuition area for women, ensuring an inclusive environment for all golfers. Additionally, the club boasts a TrackMan-equipped driving range and luxurious performance studios featuring the latest swing and custom-fit technology.

Education City Golf Club has also been a host venue for the prestigious Commercial Bank Qatar Masters, a European Tour event, further solidifying its status as a world-class golfing facility. Notably, the winners of the Qatar Masters held at Education City Golf Club in 2020 and 2021 were Jorge Campillo and Antoine Rozner, respectively. The course record of a wonderful 63 is held by Alexander Bjork and Pablo Larrazabal.

Whether you’re a seasoned golfer or new to the sport, Education City Golf Club offers an inclusive, modern, and innovative golfing experience unlike any other in the region.
